Why you need Graduation Photos and how they are different from Senior Photos.

We are strong believers in capturing milestone moments in life. When you think “graduation” photos you may only think about senior portraits in high school but we think that graduating from college is a really big deal and one that you should celebrate with some photos as well.

Today, let’s talk about why you should consider graduation photos and the main reason they are different from senior photos.

What is the big difference?

High school senior photos normally happen during the Junior year of high school or the summer before going into their senior year. Most high school photos are due sometime around November of the year before the senior is set to graduate. This is because the photos need to be ready for the yearbook. Normally we don’t shoot many college graduates during this time frame. It is strictly a high school senior type moment.

College graduates don’t have the same restriction on submitting their photos so normally college graduate photos happen in the spring time before graduation. Sometimes just a month before graduation happens. This is around the time they typically get their cap and gowns and they only need to submit the photo digitally to the school if they would like to. So if you are a college graduate we wont typically see you until March - May of the year of graduation.

Now, let’s talk about why you should consider graduation photos

Celebrate Your Incredible Achievement

Let’s be real—college graduation is a BIG deal. You’ve survived the all-nighters, the group projects (ugh), the ramen noodle dinners, and everything in between. You’ve earned that cap and gown, and it deserves to be more than just a blurry pic your uncle took from the bleachers.

Graduation portraits give you the spotlight. They freeze this once-in-a-lifetime moment in a way that feels real, authentic, and totally you. Whether it’s tossing your cap in front of your university sign, hugging your favorite professor, or striking a pose with your diploma, your grad session should feel like a victory lap—with amazing lighting.

Bonus? These photos are perfect for announcements, social media posts, and yes—even that future job application where your LinkedIn profile needs to scream accomplished and professional.

College graduation portraits in Pueblo, Colorado are one of the most memorable ways to mark your journey. If you’re a soon-to-be grad looking to celebrate your achievement, Lepik Photography is here to make it unforgettable.
